Sr. Manufacturing Technician

Team members may specialize in quality control or assurance, chemical manufacturing processes, metals, electrical connectors and components, process development, materials, and/or instrumentation. They may also handle calibration, displays, network control, mold development and audiovisual work or environmental health and safety. The Technical Engineering Support Teams are responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. They plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met. They evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. At times, they may work directly with customers to understand needs, gather customer requirements, identify resources and assess project risks. They create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication, for non-technical and technical users.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • 7+ years as a field technician in a high demand production setting
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and become resident expert
  • Exceptional problem solving skills with strong background in electrical and mechanical systems
  • Possess vision to learn systems as opposed to mastering familiar equipment
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and ability to learn new and old I&C technologies as needed to support production needs
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools
  • Self-Starter. Willing and able to perform work with little/no supervision
  • Ability to communicate with peers in shop, different departments, and contractors
  • High School or GED Diploma required
  • Vocational school or apprenticeship experience preferred
  • Troubleshooting and repair of all automated control systems utilizing manuals, circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to modify control schemes as needed to optimize specific process
  • Correct legacy wiring issues as needed in control cabinets
  • Plan work orders for 2 electricians on staff (1 on first shift, 1 on second shift)
  • Provide technical direction to maintenance staff for all controls and instrumentation related work
  • Project manager for upgrades and new installs of control packages for all lines
  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance tasks as needed to complete repairs or projects (such as replacing small gearmotors, small bearings, installing hangars, etc)
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to document work performed
  • Recommend and implement preventive maintenance schedules for electronic and electrical components in field
  • Maintain accurate records for new and existing controls cabinets
