Job Description

Our client is looking for an Acoustic Engineer to support the prediction, analysis, and reduction of noise and vibration in geared mechanical systems. This role focuses on physics-based modeling, simulation, and test correlation to guide design decisions that improve acoustic performance and durability of power transmission products used in demanding applications.

The successful candidate will work closely with design engineering teams, applying NVH analysis tools and methodologies to evaluate dynamic behavior and translate insights into practical, manufacturable design improvements.

#ZR

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute NVH simulation models for gearbox systems to predict tonal and broadband noise, transmission error, excitation sources, structural response, and radiated sound.
  • Analyze gear, shaft, bearing, and housing dynamics, including airborne and structure-borne sound paths.
  • Provide actionable design recommendations related to gearing, micro-geometry, bearings, shafts, housings, isolation, damping, and lubrication to meet noise and vibration targets.
  • Define NVH test plans and procedures to support model validation and correlation; coordinate testing with internal or external teams.
  • Correlate simulation results with experimental data, refine modeling assumptions, and support root-cause identification and issue resolution.
  • Prepare concise technical reports and presentations for engineering stakeholders and, when needed, support customer-facing NVH discussions.
  • Support applicable standards, documentation, and internal engineering procedures related to NVH and gearbox design.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and enhancement of tools and analysis methods.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in NVH related to rotating machinery, power transmission systems, acoustic testing, or machinery dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of vibration and acoustics analysis techniques, including modal, harmonic, transient, order analysis, and transfer path methods.
  • Experience with one or more NVH or CAE tools
  • Proficiency with CAD software; experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Background in industrial or marine gear drive applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., AGMA, API, MIL) is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
