Job Description


The Panther Group is seeking a highly experienced Advanced Solder Technician to support a precision electronics manufacturing team in Clearwater, FL. This is a hands-on opportunity for skilled professionals with advanced expertise in SMT, through-hole soldering, PCB rework, and X-ray inspection in a high-reliability production environment.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience working on complex printed circuit boards, bottom-terminated components, and advanced rework processes.
What You’ll Do
  • Perform high-mix, low-volume assembly of SMT and through-hole components on complex PCBs
  • Execute advanced removal, replacement, and repair of components including:
    • QFNs
    • BGAs
    • LGAs
    • Other bottom-terminated and fine-pitch devices
  • Use specialized equipment including:
    • Hot-air pencils
    • Hot plates
    • Reflow tools
    • Soldering stations
  • Conduct X-ray inspection to evaluate hidden solder joints and verify workmanship
  • Perform visual, AOI, and microscope inspections for quality assurance
  • Interpret:
    • Engineering drawings
    • BOMs
    • Work orders
    • Component placement documentation
  • Troubleshoot solder defects such as:
    • Tombstoning
    • Voids
    • Solder bridges
    • Wetting issues
  • Follow ESD, safety, and compliance procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization
What You Bring
  • 4+ years of advanced soldering / electronic assembly experience
  • Strong expertise in:
    • SMT and through-hole soldering
    • PCB rework and repair
    • BGA/QFN/LGA component handling
    • X-ray inspection
  • Experience working under a microscope for extended periods
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of solder quality standards and defect resolution
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability environments
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC J-STD certification
  • AOI experience
  • Experience with high-density PCB assemblies
  • Familiarity with thermal profiling and advanced reflow techniques
  • ESD-controlled or cleanroom experience
Pay $18-$25 per hour DOE
