Senior Data Analyst, Vendor Integration

Why the Vendor Integration Team?
The Vendor Integration team is a high performing and innovative team responsible for maintaining the integrity of member deductible and out of pocket accumulations for the products with integrated medical and pharmacy benefits. The products include a wide array of benefit designs with over 1.1M members. The Vendor Integration team serves as a point of contact for the pharmacy vendors and provides analytical, subject matter expertise, and project management support to our operational and IT teams in developing solutions and mitigating various issues that impact the accuracy of member accumulations.

Position Summary
As a Sr. Data Analyst, you will support the migration of integrated accumulations to a new pharmacy vendor effective 1/1/2023. In this role, you will provide advanced level analytical support and project management support to ensure the vendor migration objectives, timelines, performance goals and standards are met. You will partner with internal and external organizations to design and build analytical tools, data models and reports and use them to develop and implement action plans enabling data migration and defect management activities.

The ideal candidate has a background in database development, report development, and healthcare insurance. Experience in working with large data sets, data driven decision-making, and effective requirement gathering is required. Also essential is the ability to lead projects with close attention to detail, focus on results, and the ability to effectively present results. The candidate in this position is required to constantly innovate, challenge assumptions, and generate new ideas and process improvements. Finally, we are seeking a team player with the ability to collaborate with others towards shared goals.

Key Accountabilities:
 
  • Design and develop data-enabled system tools (databases, reporting, etc.) to support data set up, data migration, and other activities necessary for the successful set up of member integrated accumulations to the new vendor 
  • Develop and generate, with minimal supervision, project related deliverables, including reports, process workflow diagrams, project plans, and dashboards 
  • Autonomously collaborate with the internal and external partners in soliciting the business objectives and requirements for the new analytical and reporting tools 
  • Analyze large data sets and provide technical analysis expertise and direction in developing, maintaining, and enhancing departmental analytical, operating controls, and reporting data needs Independently identify and research technical issues with the system processes and reporting; outline and implement action plans 
  • Assist with the various aspects of the project including requirement development, testing, and defect management 
  • Evaluate current data gathering and analysis processes and implement process improvements that streamline activities, propose changes in support of improved performance and reliability, introduce new technologies, and document the changes 
  • Support the development, enhancement, and implementation of new corporate systems or technological solutions that are integral to managing member accumulations with the new vendor 
  • Fulfill evolving analytical and reporting needs, and support new IT solutions 
  • Provide effective communication of project activities to the Vendor Integration leadership and other project stakeholders    

Required Technical and Behavioral Competencies 
  •   Advanced database design and development skills (e.g. MS Access, SQL, SAS, etc.) 
  • Advanced data analytics skills and skills with data extraction and data manipulation (e.g. MS Excel, Data Warehouse, COGNOS Analytics) and analytics automation (e.g. scripting, macros, Visual Basic) 
  •   Ability to bring the data together from multiple systems for analysis 
  •   Skilled in drafting requirements, technical writing and diagramming 
  •    Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively facilitate requirements gathering, explain report methodologies, and present results and action plans to both technical and non-technical audiences 
  •   Skilled in project and time management 
  •   Knowledge of an IT project life cycle 
  •   Solid understanding of business process improvement, project management principles, approaches, and methodologies 
  •   High levels of business acumen and professionalism 
  •   Exercises personal responsibility and ability to work independently 
  •   Strong aptitude for effectively collaborating with others at all organizational levels 
  •   Learns quickly and can work in a fast paced and dynamic environment 
  •   Proven ability to lead and participate in projects and on teams 

Education and Experience 
  • BA/BS Degree preferably in mathematics, statistics, business or computer science or equivalent work experience required  
  • 5 plus years demonstrated analytical experience in data manipulation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting 
  • 5 plus years demonstrated analytical experience in developing user tools to automate manual processes (scripting, databases, process flows) 
  • 5 plus years’ experience in healthcare
