Primary Job Function: Ensure the prompt collection of installment and credit card accounts and mortgages as well as deficit balances. Initiate action and secure payment arrangements on bad debt and delinquent balances. Maintain collection action related files. Generate activity reports. Conduct research and adjust accounts as needed. Responsibilities: Review listings of delinquent loans, mortgages and deficit balance accounts. Initiate phone contact with members regarding account status. Advise of potential legal action. Attempt to secure payment arrangement to bring account current. Arrange continuing payment plan to clear account. Refer delinquent account to Assistant Manager for refinancing. Apply terms of credit mortgage agreement to collection methods when initial collection attempts are unsuccessful. Initiate repossession of collateral as required. Locate delinquent members and their assets. Interact with other financial institutions and collection agencies to resolve collections problems. Pursue collection activity through to resolution. Correspond with members when phone contact is not possible. Routinely mail account status reminders to delinquent borrowers. Utilize all resources available to skip trace and locate delinquent members in order to procure payment. Fully exhaust all collection options. Maintain collection activity records, both manually and on-line. Prepare collection activity and delinquent account reports as required. Conduct account research. Make account adjustments as needed. Flexible working hours which include some Saturday s. Other duties and overtime as requested. Requirements Some college preferred. One to three years previous collections experience. Working knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to perform research functions. Proficiency in Microsoft for Windows Applications.
