Our client, a global industrial organization, is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to support sourcing, compliance, and legal functions in maintaining adherence to international trade regulations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with export controls, sanctions, import/export requirements, and national security regulations while supporting business operations, market access, and risk management initiatives across multiple business units.
The position partners closely with legal, compliance, and operational teams and reports to senior legal leadership.
Responsibilities
Oversee global trade compliance and contract compliance activities across the organization
Support operational execution of direct and indirect export transactions, as well as all import activities
Maintain responsibility for product and portfolio classifications, including ECCN, HTS, country of origin, jurisdiction determinations (EAR/ITAR), and required government reporting
Monitor regulatory developments and participate in industry meetings, training, and seminars to ensure compliance practices remain current
Manage due diligence processes in coordination with corporate headquarters and third-party compliance platforms
Provide support for sales representative, distributor, and other commercial agreements as requested
Contribute to risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and internal compliance controls
Support cybersecurity compliance and protection of controlled unclassified information (preferred but not required)
Requirements
Senior-level experience in trade compliance and related contract compliance within a business environment
Strong understanding of international trade regulations and the ability to coordinate compliance activities across multiple entities
Proven ability to review and analyze complex contracts, technical documentation, and regulatory requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated expertise in risk management and mitigation in commercial contracting
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
Solid business acumen and cross-functional collaboration skills
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; paralegal credentials are a plus
Minimum of 15 years of experience in contract review, trade compliance, and risk mitigation
