Job Description
Data Engineer – AWS Data Platform Implementation
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to lead a key initiative migrating our existing data systems to a modern, AWS-based data platform. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record building robust data architectures, implementing ETL processes, and delivering business intelligence solutions in enterprise environments.
This is a remote (U.S.-based) position, starting at 30 hours/week (potential to increase to 40 hours/week) on a 5+ months contract with options to extend.
Project Scope:
You will be part of a migration from SQL Server, MongoDB, and NetSuite to a scalable cloud-based environment leveraging Amazon Redshift, S3 Data Lake, Redshift Spectrum, and AWS Glue. The project involves:

Assessing current data sources and architecture.

Designing and implementing a foundational AWS-based data platform.

Developing data migration pipelines and ETL processes.

Establishing data governance frameworks and quality monitoring.

Integrating with Tableau for enterprise reporting and analytics.
Responsibilities:

Design, build, and optimize AWS-based data infrastructure.
-
Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and related services.
-
Implement Redshift-based data models and ensure high performance.
-
Manage data migration from legacy systems (SQL Server, MongoDB, NetSuite) to AWS.

Ensure data quality, governance, and security best practices.

Collaborate with business and analytics teams to support reporting needs in Tableau.
Required Skills & Experience:

Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift, S3 Data Lake, Redshift Spectrum, AWS Glue.

Proficiency in SQL and working with both relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).

Experience with ETL processes and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

Familiarity with BI integration, specifically Tableau.

Proven success in large-scale data platform implementations.

Ability to start immediately without an extended notice period.
Preferred:

Experience with data governance and quality monitoring frameworks.

Background in enterprise analytics environments.
