Job Description


Our client, an innovative and growing life sciences organization, is seeking a hands-on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Generalist to support a dynamic laboratory and operations environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental and occupational safety regulations.
  • Support laboratory safety initiatives, including chemical and biological safety programs.
  • Manage hazardous waste handling, storage, and vendor coordination.
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate employee safety training and onboarding programs.
  • Chair or participate in site safety committee meetings.
  • Maintain required environmental permits, regulatory documentation, and compliance records.
  • Partner with Facilities, Operations, HR, and laboratory teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Support emergency preparedness, spill response, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Assist with contractor safety oversight and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Manage multiple EHS-related projects while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Requirements:
  • 5–7+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience within Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, or another regulated laboratory environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting laboratory environments within Life Sciences or similarly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
  • Professional certifications (or the ability to obtain required certifications) are considered a plus.
  • Hands-on experience supporting laboratory operations and EHS programs.
  • Experience with hazardous materials and regulated waste management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop, revise, and implement safety procedures and training programs.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business applications.

Pay Rate: Up to $72.00 per hour depending on experience
