Designs and oversees the systems, fabrication, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, production machinery, and other material-handling equipment used in fabrication, assembly, and other production functions; analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts; oversees the construction of machine and subassemblies considering such specifications as gear ratios, bearing loads, and direction of moving parts; compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of design on machines in relation to factors such as temperature, pressures, speed, horsepower, and fuel consumption. Skill/Experience/Education Mandatory Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and /or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and /or machines. Experienced mechanical drawing checker working under the general supervision of a Lead Checker or Technical Engineer. Perform the Checking of design layouts of intermediate complexity, assembly and detail drawings to assure compliance with established Government, Industry and Company Standards. Performs other related duties and assignments as required. 1) Requires mechanical design engineering background in the areas of structures, materials, processes, fastening and joining, parts selection, tolerance analysis (incl. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and manufacturing methods. @) Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 3) Excellent written and oral communication skills 4) Strong organizational skills 5) Mechanical Computer Aided Drawing (MCAD) skills Desired 1) PTC CREO skills 2) PDM familiarity
