Job Description


Our client, an  investment bank and full service broker-dealer is seeking  a personable and experienced Human Resources Associate to join their HR team in New York City. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of HR functions and provide internal consulting to employees and managers. The ideal candidate should possess a proactive mindset to assess and anticipate HR needs from our business partners. Experience in fast-paced environment is essential.

This position will handle details of a highly confidential and critical nature and collect and prepare information for use.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to HR related inquiries;
  • Serves as a point of contact for people related issues under the supervision of HR manager;
  • Develop and cultivate internal relationships to strengthen interaction with HR department;
  • Work with managers on conducting performance reviews, providing feedback and employee development best practices;
  • Mediate and resolve employee conflicts; escalation and/or collaboration with legal department when necessary; proper documentation of events;
  • Notify employees of misconduct and/or violation of policies and procedures; corrective action including reprimands and disciplinary actions including termination;
  • Facilitates the interactions between employees, business unit management, and HR to ensure the coordination of business unit needs and HR initiatives;
  • Assist with recruitment process for a variety of requisitions, including sourcing, resume screening, scheduling interviews, soliciting feedback and communicating status to candidates;
  • Ensure hiring policies and procedures are adhered to including pre-hire and onboarding documentation;
  • Draft HR related documents (job descriptions, offer letters, performance improvement plans and performance warnings);
  • Track, develop and assess human capital related metrics;
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to HR issues and process;
  • Coordinate and deliver monthly New Hire Orientation;
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver superior HR support and service;
  • Arrange employee events including open enrollment, flu shot, or engagement events;
  • Assist with Corporate Internship Program including recruitment, onboarding and chaperoning events;
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience working in Human Resources; must have experience with employee relations
  • Bachelor’ s degree or equivalent
  • Current knowledge of law and regulations related to human resources and employee management, including federal and state employment laws
  • Experience with recruiting tools and techniques
  • Prior experience with ClearCompany, LinkedIn Recruiter or other ATS preferred
  • Prior experience in financial services a plus
  • Must be a team player with an energetic and positive attitude
  • Able to meet designated deadlines and work effectively in a fast-pace and high pressure environment
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work with minimum supervision, have a high degree of accuracy, and be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and the ability to further and maintain relationships across departments
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills
