Hybrid Powertrain Engineer
Sterling Heights, MI 48310 US
Job Description
This position is for a Electric Powertrain Engineer.
- Develop integrated hybrid electric powertrain and power generation solutions for wheeled and tracked vehicle platforms
- Work with suppliers towards the development of the subsystems and components for the powertrain and power generation systems
- Analyze subsystem and component requirements, lead powertrain performance analysis, and interpret analysis results Â
- Coordinate FEA of components and subsystems Â
- Create test plans and actively lead or guide subsystem level testing Â
- Prepare and present information to the IPT on progress and design solutions Â
- Direct and oversee CAD model development and drawings Â
- Address cost, reliability maintainability, safety, human factors in the development of design Â
- Handle programs on a very tight schedule, and budget with complexity Â
Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.Â
- 7+ years of relevant experience required. Combat vehicle experience preferred.  Â
- Established knowledge on diesel engines, transmissions, generators/motors, heat exchangers, fansÂ
- Experience in CAD and Advanced simulation tools such as Creo, UG-NX, or Matlab-Simulink Â
- Experience with Hybrid-Electric Powertrains preferred
- Excellent analytical skills to appropriately size subsystems and components Â
- Demonstrated ability to work independently Â
- Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment for program success Â
- Proven skills in the development of technical documents and oral communication Â
- Primary office work with Occasional travel to test locations Â
