Job Description


Our client, a renowned organization specializing in defense and intelligence technologies, is looking for an experienced Lead Assembler to join their dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skilled in precision hand soldering, including through-hole soldering, surface mount, and rework/reflow techniques.

  • Assemble and solder intricate electronic components (such as 0201 components and ICs) onto circuit boards while adhering to strict specifications and quality standards.

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to manage and manipulate small components for detailed soldering tasks.

  • Operate and maintain soldering equipment such as soldering irons, hot air tools, hot plates, microscopes, and workstations, ensuring all tools are kept in optimal working condition.

  • Accurately interpret assembly documentation, such as technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and detailed instructions, whether written or verbal.

  • May take the role of team leader for junior technicians, ensuring high-quality output according to defined standards, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and timely delivery.

  • Work with minimal supervision on advanced tasks, adjusting processes, tools, and materials as needed to meet unique project requirements.

  • Take on more complex tasks requiring deeper expertise in specific assembly procedures.

  • Utilize experience and judgment to prioritize and complete assigned tasks effectively.

  • Collaborate closely with various departments including Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to ensure seamless operations.

  • Act as a subject matter expert to assist others in solving complex technical challenges.

  • Lead and train junior technicians, providing mentorship and guidance on best practices.

  • Demonstrate strong decision-making abilities and proactive initiative in all aspects of the role.

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols related to materials handling, equipment use, and chemical management.

  • Be responsible for proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and safety compliance.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as LEAN, "Six S" practices, and other team-driven activities.

  • Uphold and advocate for the organization’s mission, values, and culture in all interactions and processes.

  • Perform advanced-level assembly tasks, which may include mechanical assembly, harnessing, cable work, sub-assemblies, spray applications, and inspections, typically based on technical drawings or models.

  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards, focusing on efficiency, customer satisfaction, and budget compliance.

  • Be proficient across all stages of assembly, collaborating with Engineering to develop first articles by interpreting specifications and prints without predefined processes.

  • Carry out all inspection functions, including in-process, final, and source inspections, ensuring all procedures are adhered to.

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of company policies and procedures, and apply business metrics and reporting tools where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in the field.

  • Proven experience in soldering and assembly techniques is essential.
