Lean Leader - Continuous Improvement Engineer

Job Description


Our client is looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to champion Lean events in their manufacturing plant in Pompano Beach, FL. Our client is an industry-leading manufacturer of high-tech, reciprocating compressor valves and components used across the energy industry.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Find potential for Continuous Improvement opportunities by analyzing production patterns and technical requirements
  • Review drawings of parts, shop floor
  • Conduct process on how and why things are done
  • Speak to vendors on technical options to improve production processes
  • Calculate improvement potentials and present findings
  • Planning of LEAN events
  • Plan Kaizen events
  • Plan LEAN work shops
  • 5S work shops
  • Plan projects for implementation (who, what, when)
  • Execute LEAN events
  • Work with the team on the floor hands-on to run trails, implement new processes, monitor production runs document the results
  • Install 5S items (shadow boards, floor lines)
  • Install test fixtures, test tools
  • Track progress
  • Review project plans and team commitments against actual
  • Track savings/improvements against plan
  • Educate others in LEAN
  • Train operators to identify waste
  • Train people on process analysis and Future state design
  • Create Work Instructions for new processes
  • Train others on LEAN techniques; document training

Requirements
  • Must be a Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • 2 or 4-year degree in mechanical, industrial engineering or business, alternative equivalent experience or combination of education and experience are accepted
  • 2-years’ experience teaching and coaching LEAN techniques like 5S, KAIZEN, VSM
  • 4-years’ experience in working in a factory environment
  • Demonstrated experience in holding LEAN events, value stream analysis
  • AutoCAD 2D drafting for floor layouts
  • 3D drafting experience (is a bonus)
  • Able to use mechanical gauges to take measurement (indicators, micrometers, calibers)
  • Able to understand geometrical tolerances GDT and check parts against it
  • Ability and experience to use hand tools to assemble, disassemble, cut, drill
  • Ability and experience to work with people from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Ability and experience to create presentations in software and physical media
  • Experience in managing projects
