Litigation Paralegal   
 
Job Summary:
Assist Attorneys by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, or researching legal precedent. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.

Responsibilities:
  • Organize exhibits for pleadings;
  • Conduct legal research;
  • Electronically file documents with court on NYSCEF and ECF;
  • Prepare correspondence and send courtesy copies to court;
  • Serve documents on parties;
  • Schedule process server for service of documents;
  • Bate-stamp and redact documents for production on docs corp;
  • Prepare pleadings binder for case files;
  • Organize research, attorney notes and client documents for file;
  • Maintain litigation case calendar;
  • Prepare pleadings such as subpoenas, restraining notices, information subpoenas, notice of entry, notice of appeal, request for judicial intervention, notice of appearance, notice of electronic filing;
  • Organize documents for trials;
  • Prepare trial binders for attorney;
  • Administrative duties – scan documents for attorneys, organize attorney working documents,
  • Travel to court to file documents;
  • Maintain and organize electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  • Draft correspondence and other materials as requested, respond to written and verbal inquires.
  • Type, prepare and proofread legal and other documents.
  • Performs additional and/or other related duties as assigned.
 
Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least two (2) to five (5) years of related experience.
  • Must possess at minimum an Associate degree in legal studies or a Paralegal Certification
  • Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Systematic knowledge of databases and tracking systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be a self-starter, take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) with the ability to learn new or updated software.
  • Proficient in Document Management software a plus.
Targeted base salary DOE $85k-$90K
