Job Description


Our client—a local manufacturing company with a national footprint--is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Pompano Beach, FL.  The company is an industry leading manufacturer of high-tech precision compressor valves and components used across the energy industry.  The position focuses on initiatives relating to the production processes in Metal manufacturing.  The company operates with 100 CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders) and 20+ robots.
The Manufacturing Engineer’s role is to find improvement potentials in manufacturing, analyze processes, find possible solutions, drive the decision process and implement improvements with teams of people of different departments and backgrounds.
 What you will be doing:
  • Find potential for opportunities by analyzing production patterns and technical requirements (Review drawings of parts, shop floor; Conduct process analysis; Speak to vendors regarding technical options to improve production processes; Calculate improvement potentials; Present findings to peers and management, propose solutions)
  • Plan, justify and execute projects (Draft justifications based on safety, quality of parts, ROI; Lead capital investment projects to achieve the planned outcome, the timeline and budget; Track savings/improvements
  • Source new tooling, work holding and production equipment (CNC and manual), arrange their repairs and alterations, manage the maintenance cycle of the equipment
  • Work with the product development group to start production on newly developed products
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or alternative equivalent experience or combination of education and experience are accepted
  • 1-2 years’ experience in working as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • Familiarity with machining processes like grinding, turning, milling or deburring on plastic components
  • Experience in managing projects and capital projects
  • Experience with 2D drafting for floor layouts and moving machines and creating floor layouts
  • 3D drafting experience
  • Ability and experience to create fixtures and machine components
  • Able to use mechanical gauges to take measurement (indicators, micrometers, calibers)
  • Understanding of geometrical tolerances GDT and checking parts against it
  • Able to analyze data in excel with formulas, Pivot tables
  • Experience using ERP software like SAP is a plus
  •  Familiarity with machining processes like grinding, turning, milling or deburring on plastic components
  • Ability to determine heat treatment on parts (chilling, stress relief)
  • Ability and experience to use hand tools to assemble, disassemble, cut, drill
