Description: Extended Range (ER) GMLRS requires Product Design support for a missile and container detailed design effort evolving the concept development from the current IRAD program developing an evolved GMLRS Insensitive Munitions (IM) compliant motor with tail controls and a container that is capable of encanning both GMLRS and ER-GMLRS designs. The successful candidate must demonstrate highly innovative approaches to resolve difficult design issues and will be responsible for refinement of conceptual designs leading to detailed design of components and assemblies to enable production of ground and flight development and qualification test articles, creating engineering release (ER), generating solid models, creating and releasing drawings, and performing both Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and tolerance stacks analyses.
Tasks will also include:
-Generation of Interface Control Drawings (ICDs), Instructional Engineering Release (IER) documents, conceptual and detail design of missile/container components, systems, and subsystems, and creation of 3D solid models and 2D drawings. Effort will require coordination of design(s) with other mechanical/electrical disciplines. The candidate may be asked to provide on-site build support at LM's production facilities as well as at White Sands Missile Range. Candidate must have PTC CREO experience and the ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools, and prior experience working MFOM programs is highly desirable. Travel to Camden, Ark. And WSMR is possible.
Mandatory: Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong technical background, or 10 years of equivalent experience, and 6-8 years of Computer Aided Design software experience using PRO Engineer (PTC CREO3). Candidate must be capable of creating and interpreting detail, assembly, and installation type drawings, and have knowledge of the concept of tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).DesiredKnowledge and proficiency with a model/drawing data management tool, Windchill. A general understanding or experience with manufacturing engineering and fabrication processes. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications.
An active DOD Secret Clearance (with background performed within 5-years) is a plus.
Prior LMC employment/experience is a plus.
