Mechanical Engineer

The Panther Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our client located in the Shirley, MA area.  Our client is a global provider of distributed and specialty electronic components that can be used in various industrial applications.

Job Summary:
As part of the Product Realization process, the Mechanical Engineer plays a key role in bringing the next generation of products through the design and release process to a successful manufacturing launch. The Mechanical Engineer will fill a key role in ensuring that new products meet the cost and manufacturability goals and are released in accordance with published milestones.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Utilizing CAD tools to assist in the design and development of new products, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Performing design analysis during the design phase to ensure that all mechanical and thermal design rules are employed to verify that robust and reliable designs are being created.
  • Generating error free documentation necessary for successful realization of new products, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Collecting and detailed analysis and review of product data to ensure product is compliant to specifications.
  • Identification of product performance issues during new product development. Identifying any product performance issues that may lead to yield loss and work to resolve the issues identified.
  • Understanding the product, tooling, and fixturing design tradeoffs which affect yield and manufacturability.
  • Supporting the Operations group in modifying existing tooling and fixturing to improve throughput and yield.
  • Perform other duties as directed by senior management.
Schedule / Work Location:
  • Day shift / Monday to Friday In person – must we located or able to commute regularly to the Shirley, MA area,

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ability to apply the scientific method and critical thinking skills to solve technical problems.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to complete tasks and solve problems.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in teams and exude positive interpersonal behavior.
  • Write legibly, read, and interpret forms.
  • Follow verbal, written, and visual instructions.
  • Must be able to work visually with the aid of microscopes.
  • Handle product with tools, specifically tweezers, multimeters, soldering iron, etc.
  • Frequently use hands to feel and handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and communicate data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Should have knowledge of mechanical analysis and principles.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 2-5 years’ experience preferred.
  • 1 year of experience with AutoCAD required
  • 1 year of experience with the mechanical design of products, tools and fixtures preferred.
  • 1 year of experience with design simulation and optimization using SolidWorks is preferred.
