Job Description

This role will be in our client's Auxiliary Systems Mechanical Engineering area, der the guidance of a senior engineer, will help design and release mechanical and fluid components and subsystems for military ground vehicles.

This includes the application of engineering principles to generate designs to solve complex problems and provide support for the build, test, and production of the designs. The system level areas of focus may include hydraulic actuation and pneumatics, automatic fire suppression, fuel, camera cleaning, LRU cooling distribution, winch and fairlead. Other possible assignments for general mechanical may include shock/vibration isolation and mounting of devices, stowage equipment integration, seating and crew accommodations, battery enclosures, and driver controls.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role: 
  • Mechanical & Auxiliary design engineering of fluid and distributed systems including fuel, automatic fire suppression, camera cleaning, LRU cooling, and hydraulic and pneumatics to meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Will help develop and integrate components into vehicle platforms to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic and mine blast requirements.
  • Will help and conduct design, integration and analysis of mechanical components, mechanisms, and shock attenuation systems for mounting devices.
  • Will apply the mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles for mechanical components and complex welded brackets, mounting provisions.
  • Will help support various projects by performing analysis & design, drawing/model mark-ups, tolerance stacks along with generating source data for engineering changes.
  • Responsible for writing material requests and shop work requests, track delivery and stock of parts, participate in integration reviews, fit checks, and author reports.
  • Provides support to prototype, production, and sustainment vehicle efforts and follow-up, technical corrective action formulation, troubleshooting and redesign activities.
  • Present design concepts and program status to functional and program management in a clear, concise manner and in the context of risk management.
  • Involved with conducting failure analysis, produce required corrective action, and troubleshoot and redesign activities and necessary.
  • Works with the customer on their needs for the vehicle, formulate the subsystem and component requirements and meet contract expectations.
  • Will be involved with technical presentations to other engineering groups, the customer and/or leadership.
  • May work with different engineering functions of the organization on various programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Sought: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Will consider degree in Electrical Engineering with experience and desire to work Mechanical systems.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in an Engineering role required.
  • Focus on Fluid or Distributed Systems is a plus.
  • Classes or exposure to materials and material selection when it comes to welding and fabrication a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience supporting prototype and/or production build activities.
  • Demonstrated experience developing fluid system functional architecture, schematics, and analytical models and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with root cause and corrective activities.
  • Experience using NX and/or Creo desired.
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup a plus.
  • Must be Microsoft Suite proficient and able to work in PowerPoint on presentations as needed.
  • Able to multi-task on various projects simultaneously and be adaptable as requirements change. 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to other facilities and military installations if needed.
Additional Information / Desired Experience 
  • This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance). 
  • This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and overtime is required.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
