Job Description

Our client, a manufacturing company, is seeking a Production Manager to join their team.

BASIC FUNCTION AND PURPOSE: Lead, manage, and direct the people and activities of the manufacturing departments. To manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, quality, and other production-related activities ensuring that procedures and policies are followed, and products are delivered on time and in the most cost-effective manner.  Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to meet the expectations of the customer. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  1. Direct and manage day to day production operations with a focus on quality, and On Time Delivery to finished goods.
  2. Understand how to balance the workload for the optimal flow of product through the three floors of manufacturing. 
  3. Coordinate and plan manufacturing activities with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  4. Direct, lead and motivate manufacturing personnel to achieve production requirements.
  5. Manage work-in-process and respond appropriately to insure a balanced, efficient plant.
  6. Direct and lead manufacturing team to maintain and enhance the quality of products.
  7. Evaluate and manage controllable expenses to include consumables, and overtime.
  8. Review and support managers and supervisors to support the expected production rates.
  9. Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping.
  10. Provide direction, development, and leadership to production supervision.
  11. Review process changes, accident, safety, and other various reports.
  12. Contribute to plant layout changes.
  13.  Be a permanent member of the Safety Committee.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience in a management role.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles. 
  • Epicor experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, OSHA certification a plus.
