Job Description
The Panther Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity supporting advanced defense and engineering programs with a leading aerospace and defense organization in Chelmsford, MA.
This is a high-visibility role supporting the Engineering & Technology organization and Advanced Programs initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management experience, the ability to work cross-functionally in complex environments, and experience supporting engineering or manufacturing programs within a defense environment.
Active Secret Clearance required prior to start.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate planning, organization, tracking, and execution of engineering projects and advanced programs
- Serve as the Control Account Manager (CAM) for Advanced Programs
- Maintain and update Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), ensuring alignment with program milestones and resource plans
- Track project deliverables, timelines, and reporting activities
- Act as the primary liaison for material procurement activities including requisitions, receipt verification, and kitting operations
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and program teams to ensure project objectives are achieved
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance project execution and documentation quality
- Support project reporting, risk management, and cross-functional communication efforts
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and defense industry requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 3+ years of Project Management or Project Engineering experience
- Active Secret Clearance required prior to start
- Experience building relationships across cross-functional teams
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
- Experience within defense, aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing environments
- SAP experience preferred
- DFARS knowledge or experience is a plus
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
