Job Description

The Panther Group is looking for a Project Manager (level 2) for a long term contract role.  This position will be on-site to start then work a hybrid role after the first couple of months.  The Project Manager will be working with the Technical team, so strong technical understanding along with Government project experience is preferred.  Excellent communication skills, working with all Stakeholders (business units and technical staff).  This role will also require the PM to visit other office locations in state, meeting with these Stakeholders to confirm requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Lead project teams and coordinate resources to execute project tasks and achieve project milestones.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and identify risks and issues proactively.
- Implement effective project management methodologies and best practices to optimize project outcomes.
2. Stakeholder Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, developers, designers, and other project team members.
- Communicate project status, updates, and risks to stakeholders regularly and facilitate decision-making processes as needed.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on project priorities, requirements, and timelines.
3. Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members and provide regular feedback on performance.
- Identify training and development needs for team members and support their professional growth and skill enhancement.
4. Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
- Implement quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of software deliverables to identify and address defects and issues.
- Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential impact on project success.
5. Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Manage client expectations and negotiate changes to project scope, schedule, and budget as necessary.
- Foster positive client relationships through proactive communication, transparency, and a commitment to delivering value.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in project management, specifically leading software development projects using Java, REST, and React technologies.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Smartsheet and Resource Manager or other similar tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering results and driving project success.
- Experience in client-facing roles and managing client relationships is preferred.
Location:
This position is based out of Augusta, Maine with occasional travel required for client meetings or team collaborations to other office locations in state.
