Job Description


We are hiring an Engineering Project Manager (EPM) within the Legacy Product Management organization for our client in the Sterling Heights, Michigan area.  While in this role the EPM will be responsible for production and obsolescence support to both domestic and international programs.  This will be accomplished by providing engineering leadership of a cross-functional team with responsibility and authority to deliver key products within schedule, budgetary, and technical constraints.
  • This is an on-site role in Sterling Heights, MI.  Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this location.
  • This role is not open to C2C or Visa Sponsorship.  All candidates must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Apply the principles of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) to the projects assigned
  • Possess, understand and apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of project management to plan and execute engineering projects
  • Generate and execute project plans and integrated schedules
  • Establish funding mechanisms to facilitate work scope
  • Forecast and maintain project demand files
  • Establish & utilize metrics to drive and monitor project performance
  • Able to read, comprehend, interpret, author, and manage contractual language/scope
  • Facilitate and support technical and programmatic events
  • Lead vehicle system-level design, integration, build, and test activities
  • Represent the project and engineering organization to leadership and customers
  • Participate as a member of the program team leading the effort to success.
  • Prepare bids and provide bid support for any applicable RFI or proposal efforts
  • Serve as a primary technical interface for internal & external customers
  • Coordinate incoming problem reports for prioritization and processing
  • Support change processing metrics through tracking, measuring and managing aging issues to resolution
  • Evaluate and disseminate customer comments to proposed changes for immediate action
  • Propose/assess process improvements to increase through-put of design updates and customer satisfaction.
 Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering.  Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience. 
  • Advanced/additional degree, MBA or MS a plus.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience related to the role.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in the engineering/defense industries desired.
  • Demonstrated project engineering experience overseeing complex technical projects.
  • Expectation is that the candidate possesses, understands, and can apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of project management to plan and execute engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in technical interface with customers and maintain relationships
  • Experience and ability to lead multi-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Analytical skills and ability to direct and consult on technical analyses.
  • Must have excellent business acumen and negotiating skills
  • Knowledge of business finances, project budget management and forecasting, scheduling tools, and critical path analysis.

Pay $62 - $68 / hour W2 depending on experience
