Job Description


The Panther Group is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager for a 12-month contract with a prestigious higher education client in Boston, MA. This hybrid role requires working onsite three days per week and is ideal for a seasoned project management professional with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, enterprise IT initiatives.

Not open to C2C or third party agencies.  No Visa sponsorship for this role. 

The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator who thrives in complex environments, excels at managing executive stakeholders, and has extensive experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
What You'll Do
  • Lead multiple large, complex IT projects from initiation through implementation.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, resource plans, and project deliverables.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment and effectively manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and executive reporting.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project scope, budgets, milestones, and financial performance.
  • Document lessons learned and support continuous process improvement.
  • Promote collaboration while driving accountability across project teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive IT Project Management experience.
  • Proven success managing large, enterprise-level IT projects in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Experience delivering projects involving one or more of the following:
    • ERP implementations
    • CRM systems
    • Cloud technologies
    • Infrastructure projects
    • Data integration initiatives
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience partnering with business units, technical teams, and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and lead teams without direct authority.
  • Strong experience managing organizational change and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, Agile, Scrum, or other Project Management certification.
  • Experience working within higher education or other large enterprise organizations.
  • Experience managing vendors and third-party implementation partners.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
Technical Skills
Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Microsoft Project
  • Smartsheet
  • Jira
  • ServiceNow
  • Waterfall methodologies
  • Agile methodologies
  • Hybrid project management approaches

Pay is $83.92-$97.90 per hour Depending on Experience.
