Job Description
The Panther Group is seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineer – Proposal Lead to support a high-visibility defense program in Grand Prairie, TX. This is a senior-level opportunity for a quality professional with deep expertise in software quality systems, proposal development, Basis of Estimate (BOE), and defense program lifecycle support.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS), software/test processes, proposal leadership, and cross-functional collaboration within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated environments.
What You’ll Do
- Lead implementation and execution of software and systems quality requirements across proposal development and program lifecycle support
- Support all aspects of proposal quality, including:
- Basis of Estimate (BOE)
- Contract review
- Program startup
- Production support
- Ensure alignment with:
- AS9100
- CMMI
- Customer and internal quality requirements
- Collaborate with:
- Program Management
- Proposal Teams
- Contracts
- Engineering
- Supply Chain
- Manufacturing
- Customers
- Support proposal reviews, DCAA audits, RAC reviews, and executive proposal reviews
- Participate in software and test equipment peer reviews, audits, and process evaluations
- Identify root causes, corrective actions, and process improvements
- Support supplier quality activities and testing events
- Help establish quality budgets and cost commitments
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM (Engineering or Science)
- 8+ years of experience in:
- Software Quality Engineering
- Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Proposal development / BOE
- Software and test equipment processes
- Requirements, design, code, and Proof & Validation (P&V)
- Strong knowledge of:
- AS9100
- CMMI
- Proposal lifecycle
- DCAA / audit support
- Excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to travel to sites, suppliers, and testing locations as needed
- Ability to obtain Secret Clearance (clearance not required to start)
- Aerospace, defense, or missile systems experience
- Experience supporting:
- Guided systems
- Launchers
- Precision fires
- Supplier quality experience
- Experience supporting cybersecurity and software quality integration
