Job Description
The Panther Group is hiring a Solder Technician to work onsite at an Aerospace & Defence client in Frederick Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Perform precision hand soldering on electronic components, including through-hole, surface mount, and rework/reflow soldering.
- Assemble electronic components (e.g., 0201 parts, ICs) onto circuit boards according to specifications and quality standards.
- Demonstrate excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for intricate soldering tasks.
- Operate and maintain soldering and inspection equipment, such as soldering irons, hot air guns, hot plates, microscopes, and soldering stations, ensuring proper functionality.
- Read and interpret assembly instructions, schematics, blueprints, and process flow documentation.
- Lead or mentor junior assembly specialists as needed, ensuring quality standards are met and promoting continuous improvement.
- Work independently on advanced tasks, adapting techniques, tools, and procedures to meet project needs.
- Apply judgment and experience to plan and accomplish assigned goals effectively.
- Collaborate with multiple internal teams, including engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and production planning.
- Serve as a resource for troubleshooting and resolving complex assembly issues.
- Train and guide lower-level team members on assembly processes and procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of materials, chemicals, and equipment, and ensure correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in process improvement initiatives such as LEAN events, 5S activities, and cross-functional action teams.
- Support organizational culture, values, and mission through professional conduct and teamwork.
- Perform advanced assembly tasks across multiple stages, including mechanical, harness, cable, and printed circuit board sub-assemblies, as well as prep, spray application, and inspection.
- Ensure products meet quality standards and production goals, with continuous improvement to meet deadlines and specifications.
- Be trained across all assembly stages, including first article builds, interpreting prints/specifications independently, and performing full inspections.
Pay $31 - $32 / hour W2 depending on experience.
