Job Description:

Period of Performance: 2/25/2019 9/26/2019

Work Location: Littleton, Colorado, Houston, Texas or New Orleans, LA.

Requisite skill set of resources applied by the contractor include:

Mechanical engineer with experience performing stress analysis on spacecraft or aircraft structures.

Proficient in Nastran and FEMAP or NX

Experience performing fracture and/or fatigue analysis

Preferred skill set:

Experience with Orion or Human Rated Spacecraft Structures

Experience analyzing flight mechanisms

Experience with analysis of composite material systems

Experience with NASGRO

Experience with structural testing

Contractor tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

Perform integrated structural analysis of structures, mechanisms, thermal protection systems, environmental control and life support systems, and propulsion high pressure gas/fluid tubing and components.

Perform analysis using a combination of hand calculations and finite element techniques such as NASTRAN, Femap, etc per Lockheed Martin standard procedures and processes.

Create Stress Analysis Models of Orion Flight Structures, Mechanisms or Components and incorporate in to existing Orion system finite element models.

Modify existing Orion finite element models as necessary to perform stress evaluations.

Support stress analysis assessments to rapidly guide design maturation.

Perform preliminary and final analyses, part sizing, fatigue/fracture assessment, drawing coordination and sign-off, test support and correlation, analyses presentations, and documentation of analyses for deliverable stress and fracture reports.

Derive and apply load cases and develop resulting stress analysis.

Link models and execute analysis on subsystem and system level elements.

Iterative analysis with design to achieve high performance/ low mass designs.

Perform Mass opportunity assessments and support long lead hardware implementation.

Models shall meet modeling standards established on the Orion Program.

Support development, acceptance and/or qualification level structural testing.

Perform finite element correlation to test data.
