Energy Storage is commercializing a new class of flow battery technology for low-cost grid-scale energy storage based on novel battery chemistry comprising aqueous electrolyte solutions. We are seeking a hands-on technical support personnel to assist with material testing and analytical characterization of polymer membranes, electrodes and electrolytes in support of developing new battery products. Typical characterization will include but not limiting to ICP, UV-VIS, conductivity, thermal and mechanical testing. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of technical staff in support of achieving overall project goals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a strong attention to detail. Candidates should have some laboratory-type experience from chemical/pharmaceutical/bioscience industry, familiarly with documentation, and be comfortable in handling analytical instrumentation, following calibration procedures, and using computer-operated devices and systems. A desire for learning is critical and strongly encouraged in this complex environment. This position is located in Cambridge, MA

Basic QualificationsAn Associate degree in a scientific field with 3 yrs lab/industrial experience or High School diploma with minimum of 5 yrs lab/industrial experience.A basic understanding of chemistry and materials properties preferably in polymer membrane Hands-on in analytical techniques/instrumentation, and computer driven data collection and basic analysis.Experience in quantitative analytical chemistry techniques such as ICP, UV-VIS, conductivity, thermal and mechanical testing.The ability to use and handle gas cylinder and hand tools such as wrenches, voltmeter, pipettes, pumps, and other basic lab equipment.The ability to follow schematics, troubleshooting issues, and implement repair strategies.Solid communications skills (both verbal and in writing) are required.

Experience (4+ years) in carrying out repetitive, high through put analytical testing to support the development and commercialization of the targeted product.Experience working in a materials testing lab following procedures, ability to write SOP s and maintaining analytical instruments and equipment to quality standards.Experience in developing processes to validate analytical chemistry methods that support product specification.An interest in renewable energy technologies and a desire to learn more about the field.
