Job Description

Our client, a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, is looking for a Waste Treatment Technician to assist in the daily management and upkeep of their waste treatment operations. This role involves providing preventative maintenance and ensuring optimal performance of critical waste treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Primary Waste Treatment Systems:

Plate and frame filter press
Batch processing / pH balancing
Vacuum evaporation units
Granular activated carbon filtration columns
Ion exchange systems
Reverse osmosis membrane units
Ozone generation system
pH regulation systems (acids and bases)
Wet scrubber systems

Associated Waste Treatment Components:

Air diaphragm pumps
Centrifugal pumps
Chemical metering pumps
Pneumatic valve systems
Manual valve operation
Heat exchangers
UV light treatment systems

Core Duties:

Operate and perform preventive maintenance on equipment responsible for processing waste streams, including those that isolate heavy metals, organic compounds, salts, and purified DI water.
Handle materials, including chemical totes and drums (strong acids, bases, and waste streams), using forklifts and pallet jacks.
Ensure safe execution of tasks by following proper safety protocols and using necessary PPE.
Operate PLC-based control systems with HMI touchscreens according to established procedures.
Maintain detailed logs of operational data and system parameters for analysis and regulatory compliance.
Develop an understanding of the overall process and equipment to assist in troubleshooting minor issues when necessary.

Qualifications:

A relevant technical degree or hands-on experience with industrial fluid systems is required.
3-5 years of experience in wastewater treatment or industrial equipment maintenance is essential.
Familiarity with various pumps, valves, and fluid flow components is important.
Ability to use hand and power tools for routine maintenance tasks.
Comfortable following standard operating procedures and providing insights for continuous improvement.
Experience working with hazardous chemicals, including strong acids and bases, and a commitment to safety with PPE.
Hazardous materials training and experience are a plus.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed during critical situations.
Self-motivated with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
Electrical troubleshooting skills using a multimeter are desirable.
